Volleyball made its Olympic debut at the Tokyo 1964 Games. Brazil, the erstwhile Soviet Union and Italy have bagged the most medals in men's Olympic volleyball (six each), with the South American team leading the honours with their three golds and three silvers.

Volleyball competition held in Far Eastern Games Volleyball is put on the programme for the first Far Eastern Games held in Manila. Teams are made up of 16 players. George Fisher, secretary of the YMCA War Office, includes Volleyball in the recreation and education programme for the American armed forces. 1915.
1949: The initial World Championships were held in Prague, Czechoslovakia. 1964: Volleyball was introduced to the Olympic Games in Tokyo. 1965: The California Beach Volleyball Association (CBVA) was formed. 1974: The World Championships in Mexico were telecast in Japan.
Speaking of finals for the men's volleyball competition the Russians then called the Soviet Union won the gold, Japan the silver Czechoslovakia the bronze. For the Olympic women's volleyball competition, Japan won the first Olympic gold medal awarded in the women's volleyball competition.
In 1964, volleyball was first played in the Olympics in Tokyo. Volleyball became a part of the Olympic Games, which allowed it to grow even more. Also, in the 1964 Olympics, the Japanese used a volleyball that consisted of a rubber casing with leather panels. A similar ball is used in modern volleyball competitions.
The first two men Beach Volleyball tournament was held in Santa Monica, California in 1948. In 1965 the CBVA, California Beach Volleyball Association was founded. In 1986 WPVA, Women’s Professional Volleyball Association took the first steps to manage women’s professional Beach Volleyball events in USA.
